Greetings Hammond Middle School Parents!
Our membership is now at 376 members. You can still join! Simply print off the membership form from this website and send it to school! With your membership dollars we have been able to pay the teacherease bill of $2700. We supplemented the purchase of a set of drums with a $900 donation to the music department. All students will benefit since Mrs. Jennings will use them in her general music classes.
PTA donated refreshments for two parent workshops in November and parents helped with our coat and book drives.
The fall fling was a success thanks to the work of committee chairsAdrienne Trainor and Susan Costenbador. Thanks to all parents who volunteered to chaperone the dance. We look forward to our next after school dance in the spring. Susan and Adrienne are also looking for volunteers for the 4th annual PTA sponsored variety show in February. The variety show is a great opportunity for students and parents to be involved. Even if your child does not want to enter as an act, we can use help organizing this very fun evening!
Many thanks to parents who volunteered to bring in food and to help Patty Debenedetto and Mary Jo Fisher for our teacher dinner during November conferences. The dinner is very much appreciated by our Hammond Middle Staff.
The PTA will again help with the cost of the sixth grade outdoor education program with a donation of $2500. Sixth grade parents will be invited to an outdoor education meeting in the new year to learn more about this great experience. For our 8th graders, PTA is sponsoring an after school student vs. parents and teachers basketball game.
The Hammond Middle School directory has been sent home with the youngest or only child in the school. Thanks to Esther Reed for her many hours of work compiling the directory. Next year, it is our goal to have the directory on our website so that we can update it throughout the year.
Hammond Middle School parents are encouraged to attend PTA meetings in the new year. Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 8th. Our December meeting has been cancelled.
